TikTok prejavil svoje sklamanie z rozhodnutia o obmedzení prístupu detí k sociálnym sieťam v Austrálii.

Návrh opatrenia bol prijatý v jednom zo dní minulého týždňa v austrálskom parlamente. Spoločnosť, ktorá sa zaoberá sociálnymi médiami, vyjadrila v nasledujúcom dni znechutenie nad novým nariadením, ktoré zakazuje mladým ľuďom do 16 rokov používať sociálne siete. Upozornila tiež, že toto rozhodnutie môže viesť mládež k nebezpečným častiam internetu. Informácie sú z TASR podľa správy AFP.

Hovorca spoločnosti vyhlásil, že vláda nevypočula odporúčania odborníkov a zdôraznil, že zákaz by mohol prinútiť mládež vyhľadať temnejšie a menej bezpečné miesta na internete, kde neplatia pravidlá komunity ani bezpečnostné opatrenia. Túto myšlienku podporil aj Medzinárodný fond pre deti (UNICEF), ktorý varoval, že nové opatrenie nezodpovedá online priestore.

Novela legislatívy bola schválená vo štvrtok hornou komorou austrálskeho zákonodarného zhromaždenia so silnou podporou vládnych aj opozičných zástupcov. V stredu tento návrh prijala aj dolná komora.

Tento nový zákon bude nútiť sociálne platformy ako Facebook, Instagram alebo X prijať opatrenia na zaistenie bezpečnosti overovania veku ich užívateľov. Ak by tieto spoločnosti porušili pravidlá, mohli by čeliť pokutám až do výšky 49 miliónov austrálskych dolárov (približne 30,2 milióna eur). Na implementáciu týchto opatrení budú mať rok.
